SHARE has been supporting emergency relief efforts in Victorian Uniting Church congregations through the CommunityCARE Program since 1995. In 2002 the CommunityCARE program was extended to Tasmanian congregations. SHARE currently assists approximately 90 Uniting Church congregations and UnitingCare agencies each year in their emergency relief programs by providing food vouchers through the CommunityCARE program.
CommunityCARE is one of the three ways in which donations made to SHARE are disbursed throughout Victoria and Tasmania. Money from SHARE is also distributed through the grants process and earmarking to Uniting Church projects.
The CommunityCARE program gives Uniting Church congregations the opportunity to ‘spread the care’ more widely than they would otherwise be able, because SHARE will double the congregation contribution in the form of food vouchers. SHARE is helping congregations to ‘double their care’ to people in need.
If you have any questions about the CommunityCARE program please call us on (03) 9251 5251.
CommunityCARE Guidelines
Take up a retiring offering for emergency relief.
Fill out the food voucher request form, indicating the voucher value and store preference.
Send this form and the money in to SHARE. The cheque should be made out to SHARE.
Please note that it must be a church cheque. Personal cheques, credit cards and cash are not accepted for the purchase of food vouchers.
Names and addresses should also be included for donors who wish to receive a tax-deductible receipt.
SHARE will then return to the congregation double the retiring offering in the form of food vouchers. If your congregation doesn’t deal directly in emergency relief but would still like to be involved you can nominate a specific UnitingCare agency for the vouchers to be forwarded to.
Please allow up to 10 working days for the processing of your request.
